Laylatul Qadar refers to the Night of Power, also called the Night of Destiny. Observed by Muslims ant it's considered to be the holiest night of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting where the angles descend to the earth and the annual decree is revealed to them. The night on which Allah (SWT) first revealed the Qur'an to the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) through the angle Gabriel (Jibraeel). Allah says in the Qur'an: "The night of decree is better than a thousand months. The angles and the spirit (Jibraeel) descend therein by permission of their lord by every matter. peace its until the emergency of dawn."[Qur'an: 97:3-5] It's believed that angle Gabriel visited the prophet (PBUH) at the cave (Gharu Xir'a) one night and inspired him to recite the first versus of the Qur'an to be revealed to him . After that night the prophet (PBUH) is believed to have continued to receive revelations of the Qur'an over a 23-years of period.
